In addition to the Southeast, Dr. Weinblatt has also served in law enforcement in the
Southwestern and Northeastern part of the United States in sworn full-time and reserve law
enforcement officer capacities.
Dr. Weinblatt has over 1,000 hours of advanced training and a number of law enforcement
instructor certifications. He is a certified instructor having taken instructor training dictated by
criminal justice standards authorities in the states of Florida, North Carolina, and New Mexico.
Under Florida's Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission guildelines, in addition to
General Instructor certification, he is also a certified "CMS" Vehicle Operations Instructor, a
certified "CMS" Defensive Tactics Instructor, and a certified "CMS" Firearms Instructor.
Dr. Weinblatt has also taken instructor certification courses for Armor Training Academy's OC
Pepper Spray, ASP's Expandable Tactical Baton, Monadnock's PR-24 sidehandle baton, Taser
International's X26 and Advanced M26 Taser, Tasertron's TF-26 Taser Weapons System, and
the North Carolina Justice Academy's Juvenile Minority Sensitivity Training: Train the Trainer.

Dr. Weinblatt was awarded the Certified Law
Enforcement Trainer (CLET) designation by
the American Society for Law Enforcement
Trainers (ASLET).
In 1993, he wrote the book Reserve Law Enforcement in the United States: A National Study of
State, County and City Standards Concerning the Training & Numbers of Non-full-time Police
and Sheriff's Personnel (click HERE for more information on the 250 page book).
Dr. Weinblatt has earned a bachelor's degree in Administration of Justice from Guilford College in
Greensboro, North Carolina, a Master of Public Administration in Criminal Justice degree (M.P.A.)
from City University in Bellevue, Washington, an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree at the University
of Sarasota in Sarasota, Florida, and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from Argosy University/Sarasota.
He has also completed 12 graduate credit hours towards a Master of Business Administration
(M.B.A.) degree from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico, and Pfeiffer
University in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is a graduate of the Seminole Community College
Leadership Academy.
Dr. Weinblatt is a Multiple Year
Award Honoree in Who’s Who
Among America’s Teachers (2002,
2004, and 2005).

Well-known for his work with both the law enforcement
trade and consumer media, Dr. Weinblatt wrote a regular
column for ten years for Law and Order: The Magazine for Police
Management. He has also written for American Police Beat,
CorrectionsOne.com, Corrections Technology and Management,
Domestic Preparedness Journal, Narc Officer, Officer.com, Police:
The Law Enforcement Magazine and Sheriff, PoliceLink.com,
PoliceOne.com. He has served on the Editorial Advisory Board for

Weinblatt formerly served as the Police Chief for the City
of Randleman, North Carolina (near the City of
Greensboro).
Prior to the police chief post, he was Chairman of the
Public Services Department for South Piedmont
Community College, near Charlotte, North Carolina,
where he oversaw areas including Criminal Justice,
Sociology, Human Service Social Work, and Early
Childhood Education.
Dr. Weinblatt currently is the Director of the Institute for Public Safety (over
the basic police academies, Criminal Justice associates degree, Law
Enforcement Technology associates degree, Fire Science, and
EMS/EMT/Paramedic) for Central Ohio Technical College (located just East
of Columbus, Ohio). He formerly served as professor and program manager
for the Criminal Justice Institute at Seminole Community College.

issues for national and local media. Issues he has been asked to provide justice media commentary

Kesse case, Vehicle Pursuits, Police use of the Taser, Traffic Stops Practices and Use of Force.
